Paper Waste Transfer Notes Are Ending
The paper Waste Transfer Note has been the backbone of waste compliance in the UK for decades. Filled in at the gate, signed by both parties, filed in a folder and retained for two years — it is a process that every waste operator knows well. That process is coming to an end. From October 2026, mandatory digital waste tracking will replace paper-based Waste Transfer Notes for waste receiving sites in England, Northern Ireland and Wales. Scotland follows in January 2027.
